It is a design research project by Shanice Heuzeveldt, developed as part of the Master in Eco-Social Design at the Hochschule Luzern (HSLU). It sits at the intersection of design research, speculative and critical design, public health, toxicology, and material culture, and asks: What would it mean to design a fashion system in which materials are no longer a source of harm?
feit has been granted the Swiss Design Network Project Grant in 2026 and is an active participant at Selvina.Lab 2026.
Supporting Network
FEIT grows through collaboration.
We work with partners who are asking similar questions – about materials, systems, and the role of design in shaping healthier futures.

Shanice Heuzeveldt
Shanice is a hybrid designer and researcher and holds an MA in Eco-Social Design. Her work sits at the intersection of feminist studies, fashion, textiles, and health. With a background in sustainable fashion, design, and management, she researches how the materiality of fashion, its hidden toxicity, chemical compositions, and systemic opacity, affects both human and more-than-human health. Rooted in feminist and decolonial studies, the work recognizes the injustices embedded in fashion as expressions of the same extractive, patriarchal, and colonial systems that shape all industries. Through workshops, installations, and design interventions, the research engages and empowers stakeholders to think critically about materials, systems, and their own agency, working toward transparency, collective literacy, and safer futures.
